Boissiere House (better known locally as “The Gingerbread house”) is a national Heritage Site in Trinidad and Tobago. It can be found around the Queen’s Park Savannah. Designed and built in 1904, it was the home of the Boissiere Family- A French family that had taken up residence in Trinidad and Tobago. Most of the building materials were imported from England and Italy. It is one of the most photographed houses in Port of Spain. There are only a few houses that have retained this architectural style but some unfortunately have not been maintained to a high standard. It is a reflection of a period when these houses were quite popular. Once my husband started sketching again this was a must for him to complete though his version is prior to its restoration which was completed in 2015. He would have seen Boissiere house almost daily for 7 years on his way to school in Port-Of- Spain (From 2000-2007).
